Were the Division Bell CD's different from each other? I mean, if one person bought the CD at one location, and another person bought the same CD at another location, would the 2 CD's have differences in the music or packaging? That could explain the need to communicate. It's repeated in the Publius clues that I read that fans are supposed to communicate to solve the puzzle. To me, the definition of a division bell brings up thoughts of differences between people, ideas, etc. being made clear. Could there be differences in the music and packaging that need to be made clear?
Just a thought. I just discovered this as I am home sick from work. Very interesting puzzle linked to interesting music!

Cool, thanks! Wikipedia and here are the only places I've looked so I don't know what other people are thinking except the posts I've read at those 2 places. Is there some call to reckoning that would clearly define differences between the United Kingdom and the United States? Or maybe a situation that would have been expected in the future, or highly relevent at the time? This is kind of out there, but what about the revolutionary war? It was a time when the "division bell" could be said to have called for a clear deliniation between Americans and British people.
It seems like too much of a coincidence for the division bell to be so important, and for there to be such a clear division between the US and American versions. Does anyone else have ideas about this?

This photo in particular indicates a clear division between the U.S. and Britain: British version: folk.uio.no/ericsp/images/uk5.jpgAmerican version: folk.uio.no/ericsp/images/us5.jpgThe world remains the same. It's the perspective of the onlookers (1 British, 1 American) that changes. The perspectives of the 2 are clearly very different from each other. EJ Also, during and after the time division bells ring, the center of activity is the most relevent to the situation. When Britain and the U.S. are clearly seperated, the most obvious and central feature is the Atlantic Ocean. It would be viewed very differently from the 2 perspectives. And going out into the Atlantic Ocean would involve travel from any location. One of the clues said that the searchers should be ready to travel. It seemed like an odd clue because traveling wouldn't be necessary from all locations from which that clue might be read...unless it was in a huge area of land without internet access or in an ocean. But there is also a clue that says that the prize is both tangible and will be unearthed when (or if) it is found. So if I'm right, I think it's on an island in the Atlantic Ocean. I just reviewed the lyrics for the whole division bell CD. There are a lot of references to water and silence, and a reference to a building that seems like a clue for some reason. Is there a place like this that could meet the description of being "a place of magnets and miracles"? I think it would also be an island either occasionally visited by other people or maybe inhabited by some people year-round. And I think it would have some areas where the altitude is much higher in some places than others. It seems likely to be a volcanic island. But I don't think there are very many of those in the Atlantic Ocean compared to the Pacific Ocean. Relating this all back to the big picture, I think there would be some kind of very clear divisiveness involving the others who visit or live on the island. The division could be between islanders, or between islanders and tourists, or it could be a former British colony that is now heavily influenced by the U.S....it's something that is sharp and clearly defined.

I AM NOT PLAYING WITH YOU:
I AM YOUR TRUE FRIEND, MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS.
I AM NOT GONNA PLAY THIS GAME, FOR THE RESOLUTION IS RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW.
FOLLOW:
Do you remember the song "RETURN TO INNOCENCE"? I just cannot remember what is THE NAME OF THE AUTHOR (can someone find it for me and post it?), but the lyrics are VERY IMPRESSIVE.
DID I NOT PROMISE THAT I WOULD RETURN?
I KEEP MY WORD, WILL YOU KEEP YOURS?
I HAVE TOLD YOU IT IS VERY SIMPLE. I NEVER CHANGE AND NEVER LEAVE YOU HUNGRY AND THIRSTY. NOW, IT IS TIME TO REJOICE AND TO RETURN. I CONGRATULATE YOU ON YOUR ENDURANCE. NOW, PUT YOUR NEW OLD PERSPECTIVES INTO IT AND THE WORLD WILL BE A PEACEFUL PLACE OF FREEDOM, LOVE AND JUSTICE.
